Ogun: Police Arrest Suspected Ritualist With Fresh Human Head - Crime

  A  suspected ritualist, Taiwo Yemitan, has been arrested by the operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for being in possession of fresh human head and dismembered body parts of a female victim in Lafenwa area of Abeokuta . This was contained in a statement made available by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, to newsmen in Abeokuta,on Sunday. The PPRO said  the suspect, a 45 year old was arrested at 1:40a.m on Sunday in his home behind Atinsola petrol station , Sanni in Abeokuta. Police Deny Killing Hunger Protesters, Demand Amnesty’s Apology - Politics

  The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed allegations made by Amnesty International in its report titled “Bloody August: Nigeria Government’s Violent Crackdown on #EndBadGovernance Protests,” describing the claims as false, misleading, and damaging to the image of the Force. The report, released on November 28, 2024, accused the police of extrajudicial killings during the August 1-10 #hunger protests, claiming that at least 24 people were killed in six northern states. However, the police have refuted these claims, asserting that their findings contradict Amnesty International’s allegations. Addressing a press briefing on the matter on Sunday,  the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said a special investigative panel was constituted to verify the claims. Abuja Stampede: Nine Victims Discharged As Wike Orders Free Treatment - Politics

  Nine victims of the stampede at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja, have been discharged from Maitama District Hospital following Saturday’s tragic incident,  News360 Nigeria  reports. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister,  Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, ordered free medical treatment for all those injured during the church’s annual food outreach program. The stampede resulted in 10 fatalities, including four children, and left 10 others injured. A statement by Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, disclosed that  government hospitals have been instructed to provide free treatment to the victims. Wike also directed that police approval must be obtained for future public palliative distributions to prevent similar tragedies. Insecurity: Anambra Community Deploys Soldiers For Christmas Safety - Politics

  Awka – In response to rising insecurity caused by armed gunmen camped in the forests of Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area, the Igwe-in-Council has deployed soldiers to safeguard residents and visitors returning for the Christmas celebrations. The community has recently experienced frequent kidnappings and killings, particularly along the Nimo-Neni road, leading many residents to flee the area. Concerned about the safety of returning indigenes, the Igwe-in-Council approved the deployment of soldiers, who now patrol the community round the clock.
