Adebanjo: Tinubu Had Always Won In Lagos Through Thuggery, Bribery

  Elder statesman and Afenifere leader,  Chief Ayo Adebanjo on Monday said the victory of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos state during the ongoing presidential election did not come to him as a surprise. Obi polled 582,454 while Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 572,606 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, came third with 75,750 votes. Speaking with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Adebanjo who declared support for Obi ahead of the election said the results proved that the youths are now ready to take back their country. According to him, Tinubu has always won the election for APC in Lagos through bribery, corruption and use of thugs. "Obi's victory in Lagos in the presidential election is the wish of the people.   The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, would most likely meet the constitutional requirement of 25 per cent of total votes cast in 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This is based on the results so far released at the state collation centres of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, is trailing. Section 134 (2) of the Nigerian Constitution requires the candidate in a presidential race to get at least 25 per cent of the votes in two-thirds of the states in order to be declared winner. An analysis of the results trickling in so far showed that Tinubu will get 25 per cent in at least 17 of the 19 northern states. He is however likely to have issues in Taraba and Plateau states.
