PDP, APC, APGA Leaders In Peter Obi’s LG Defect To Labour Party

THE major political parties in Agulu, the home town of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi in Anaocha local government area of Anambra State, have collapsed their structures into LP ahead of the February 25 general elections.

At a town hall meeting attended by the entire 20 villages in the community, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the area defected to the Labour Party.

Those who defected to LP include the PDP local government chairman in Anaocha, Mr. Ifeanyi Orji, secretary of APC in Anaocha, Mr Ezeabi Raymond Nonso, PDP chairman in Peter Obi’s Agulu Ward 2, Mr. Charlie Chukwudebeku, former chairman of APGA Ward 4, Agulu, Chief Elias Abana and all their supporters.

In their separate speeches, those who defected said they would not want to be working against the interest of most Nigerians who are clamouring that Peter Obi should be the next president of Nigeria.

They said that with their defection, their former parties have become ineffective in all the communities in the local government.

The traditional ruler of Agulu, Igwe Innocent Obodoako, who also announced the official endorsement of the LP presidential candidate and other candidates of the party by Agulu community, urged his subjects not to listen to other people who might be coming to Agulu to campaign.

The Royal Father said: “We dedicate Peter Obi and all the LP candidates to God. They are all good candidates who will represent us well and they will all be giving Peter Obi the much needed support to pilot the affairs of the country well.

“It is God brought out Peter Obi, which is why he has so much support from across the country.
“We know our son and we are not surprised at the impact he is making in the presidential race and by the grace of God, he will be elected the next president of Nigeria.

“We therefore need everybody’s support to enable him reach the desired destination”.

Former President General of Agulu,

Chief Paulinus Aniagbaoso said the meeting marked the collapse of other political parties in Agulu, adding that the emphasis henceforth is door to door campaign for Peter Obi in all the 20 villages in the community.

He said that it is only those who do not mean well for Nigeria that are opposed to Peter Obi, who he described as the best presidential candidate for the forthcoming election.

Among LP candidates that attended the meeting was the senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, Senator Victor Umeh, along with LP House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.

Seun Kuti: Peter Obi Is An Opportunist, Only Nigerians Can Save Nigeria

Seun Kuti, a popular Afrobeat singer, believes that it will take the efforts of dedicated Nigerians, not an opportunist like Peter Obi, to save Nigeria.

In a recent interview with TheMicOnPodcast, Seun Kuti argued that, despite his friendship with one of the Presidential candidates, Omoyele Sowore, he believes that only Nigerians can save the country.

The legendary singer’s son insisted that even if Sowore won the election, he would be unable to function effectively in a country dominated by the PDP and the APC.
He went on to say that Peter Obi is an opportunist who switched to the LP after losing the PDP primaries.

Seun Kuti insisted that Obi is simply an internet president whose election starts and ends on social media but not in a reality where he lacked structural background.

PSC Promotes Three AIGs, Suspends Elevation Of Eight CPs

The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of three Assistant Inspectors General of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors of Police.
In a statement on Sunday by the commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the promotion of eight Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) was suspended.
This is because the CPs failed to appear before it for the mandatory promotion interview.

“As part of an effort to fill up the leadership vacuum in the Nigerian Police Force, The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of three Assistant Inspectors General of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General of Police,” the statement partly read.

“The new DIGs are expected to fill the vacant duty posts created owing to the retirements of three DIGs representing the North Central, North East and North West geopolitical zones.”

The newly appointed officers are Hafiz Inuwa who until now was the Force Secretary, Aji Janga and Adeleke Bode.

They are expected to fill the gap created by the retirement of three DIGs representing North-West, North-East and North-Central geopolitical zones.

Inuwa will replace Mustapha Dan-Daura for the North-West slot, Janga will replace Zanna Ibrahim for the North-East slot and Bode is to replace Sanusi Lemu for the North-Central zone.

Oshoala Scores 3rd Hat-Trick In 4 Matches As Barcelona Beat Betis 7-0

Barça Femení are as indomitable as ever in the Spanish championship, treating the Estadi Johan Cruyff to seven goals on Sunday afternoon.

Following an emotional prelude in which the Barça Foundation team was presented to the large crowd doing their own take on the Maori haka, the game got going with Barça dominating and taking the lead on the quarter hour through Geyse, and new English signing Keira Walsh then got to celebrate her first goal for her new club seven minutes before the break.

It was in the second half that the floodgates opened. Pina made it three shortly after the restart, then a fabulous assist from Rolfö set up number four for Oshoala, who has now scored in seven consecutive games.

Mariona scored an absolute belter to make it 5-0, and in near replica of the fourth goal, Rolfö again supplied Oshoala for the sixth.

Peter Obi Backs New Naira Policy, Urges Nigerians To Bear With CBN

The currency redesign is not peculiar to Nigeria. It is an exercise that comes with some inconvenience and pain but it has significant longterm economic and social benefits. Even though there are improvements that can be made,

I urge Nigerians to bear with the CBN and Federal Government with the hope that the general populace and Nigeria will harvest the gains that will come with the reforms.

We equally implore the CBN and the banks to expedite efforts to make the new currency available to small depositors and the unbanked in order to reduce the pains of my fellow Nigerians, especially the underprivileged and those living far away from banks in the rural areas - PO

14 Times Nigeria Redesigned Banknotes In The Past

On October 26, 2022, Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), announced that the country’s apex bank would be redesigning the N200, N500 and N1,000 notes.

Emefiele said the move became imperative because the country needed to improve on its currencies’ security and features, mitigate counterfeiting, preserve the collective national heritage, control the banknotes in circulation and reduce the overall cost of currency management.

It also stressed that the exercise was long overdue as international best practice required central banks all around the world to redesign banknotes every five to eight years.

The CBN also noted that the new banknotes would start circulating from December 15, 2022, and that the old notes would cease to have value on January 31, 2023.

The Newly Redesigned Currencies
However, since deposition began, Nigerians have continued to encounter challenges in their bid to have access to funds.

Nigeria’s cash-dependent informal economy and ordinary citizens have had to scramble for the new notes and this has led to violent protests in some parts of the country.

After several “conceited” statements by the CBN governor, the apex bank eventually decided to extend the deadline to February 10.

On Friday, Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, asked the entire nation to give him seven days to find a lasting solution to the cash shortage crisis.

Before the last, Nigeria had made changes to its banknotes 14 times since gaining independence in 1960, and none of the changes was this controversial and inconveniencing. Here is the story:

Nollywood Actor: I Will Improve The Industry - Peter Obi Replies El-Rufai

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has reacted to the statement by the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, that he (Obi) was acting Nollywood and could not win the presidential election.

Replying, the former Anambra State Governor said he would rather work hard to improve the entertainment industry.

Obi gave the reply on Sunday when he appeared on Arise Television’s ‘Sunday Show’ programme.

El-Rufai had while featuring on a TVC programme last week dismissed Obi’s chances in the forthcoming presidential election.

The Kaduna governor said, “He is polling in the Christian enclaves in the North but how many are they? Peter Obi cannot win the election. He doesn’t have the number of states, he doesn’t have 25 per cent in more 16 states, the last time we checked. He can’t go anywhere.

“Peter Obi is a Nollywood actor and that’s all he will be. This election is between the APC and the PDP because they have the footprint, they have the spread. Ethnicity and religious bigotry will not take you anywhere and that’s what the Labour Party campaign is all about,” he said.

However, Obi said he would focus on the Nollywood if elected president, calling on Nigerian actors to support him since El-Rufai had tagged him as one.

He said, “I thank El-Rufai for what he said, at least he gave me some percentages; I’ll work hard to improve on that. The entertainment industry is one of the engines that will develop us as a nation, I’ll focus on that and the Nollywood.

“And since he said I’m an actor, I’m calling on all those in the entertainment industry, including the Nollywood, to support me.
