Foreign Hackers Are Attacking Our Database - INEC Chairman
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has raised an alarm of the commission's database being attacked by foreign hackers, IGBERETV reports.
Yakubu revealed this during his speech on Thursday, January 26, at the 2022 National Conference of the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents (NAJUC) in Abuja with the theme, ‘2023 General Elections; Judiciary and Sustainability of Nigeria’s Democracy.”
According to the INEC chairman who was represented by the deputy director of ICT, Dr Lawrence Bayode, the attacks are from different parts of the world and not just Nigeria.
He said;
“We were looking at the system yesterday and we were seeing that people were trying to come into the system from France but we also are putting some things in place.
“You can’t build a house and you will not put a door, window or burglary; we have done our best to ensure that our system is secured.”
The INEC official also disclosed that the Result Viewing Portal (IReV) and the backend are well-secured to prevent any attack.
He concluded by stating that there would be no voting without the permanent voter cards (PVC) and accreditation as provided in Section 47(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

Why Tribunal Sacked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke
Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration in Osun State came to a hurting halt on Friday as the Osun Election Petitions Tribunal sacked him from office. His stay in office lasted a mere 62 days!
While annulling the July 16 Osun governorship poll results, the tribunal held that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not comply with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as the Electoral Act as amended.
The PUNCH reports The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, the winner of the July 16 election.
The Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, announced that Adeleke got a total of 403,371 votes, beating the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC, who garnered 375,027 votes in the keenly contested race.
In the election held across 3,763 polling units in the 30 local government areas in Osun, the PDP won 17 of the LGAs, while the APC recorded more votes in the remaining 13. The PDP won in Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo LGAs.
The APC, on the other hand, won in Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Irewole, Ife South, and Ife East LGAs. Out of the 1,955,657 registered voters in the state, 1,479,595 Permanent Voter Cards were collected before the election.
The PUNCH reports that Adeleke’s victory raised the PDP-governed states’ tally to 14, with the ruling APC states dropping to 21.
But the hope of Adeleke, known for his dancing skills and fondly referred to as the ‘Dancing Senator’, was dashed on Friday after the tribunal annulled the result of the July 16 governorship poll.
While delivering a majority decision vote, Justice Tetsea Kume ruled that INEC did not comply substantially with the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.
He subsequently deducted the over-voting observed from the votes scored by the candidates and declared that Oyetola won the election, having polled 314, 921, while Adeleke’s score came down to 290, 266.
He directed INEC to withdraw Adeleke’s certificate of return and issue another one to Oyetola who won a majority of the lawful votes.
Only God Or Atiku's Victory Can Save Gov Adeleke - Deji Adeyanju
Tinubu and his people are so determined to take Osun through the Tribunal. Whether through bending the law or any other means, they will take it. Only God or a PDP victory in February can save Adeleke at this point.
Tribunal Judgement: Adeleke Rejects Tribunal Verdict, Heads To Appeal Court
The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has described the judgement of the governorship tribunal as " a miscarriage of justice", vowing to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal.
This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed short after he was sacked as the Governor of Osun state on Friday, January 27.
Reacting to the verdict of the Tribunal from his country home, Ede, Governor Adeleke faulted the resolution of the over-voting question in favour of Mr Oyetola, calling it " an unfair interpretation against the will of majority of voters"
While urging his supporters to remain calm, Governor Adeleke vowed to appeal the judgement at the Court of Appeal, insisting he remains the rightful winner of the July 16 election.
"I call on our people to remain calm. We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done. Let our people be reassured that we will do everything possible to retain this widely acclaimed mandate", Governor Adeleke declared.
Ekpa Was Paid $1m To Destroy Obi’s Chances —Ohanaeze
Ekpa was paid $1m to destroy Obi’s chances —Ohanaeze

The apex socio-cultural organisation in Igboland, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has urged Simon Ekpa to return the alleged $1million he collected from his paymasters, to tarnish the chances of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the 2023 presidential election.
According to the group, Ekpa would be hunted across the world to pay for the atrocities he has committed against the South-East geopolitical zone.
It further observed that the leader of the splitter group of the Indigenous People of Biafra, was acting the script of those who were opposed to a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction.
The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Comrade Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said this during an interview with The PUNCH, on Tuesday.
He said, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has cautioned one Simon Ifeanyi Njoku Ekpa to return the funds he collected with the evil intent to destroy the prospects of the Labour Party to win the 2023 presidential election on February 25, 2023.
“Intelligence reports have it that Simon Ekpa became frightened that his secrets have been uncovered and he quickly retreated and withdrew his response to the $50,000 bounty placed on him and has been begging Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the last 24 hours through the third-parties to reconsider and review the sanctions as well as drop the bounty placed on him.
“Ndigbo’s response to Simon Ekpa’s plea is that he should return the $1m to the disfavoured and unpopular presidential candidate he’s working with. He must quickly return all he had collected (to his paymasters) in other to destroy the support base of Peter Obi through his old-fashioned mantra of, ‘No Election in Biafra Land’, and rescind his intentions to declare a four-day sit-at-home from 22nd to 26th of February 2023 with a view to disrupt the 2023 presidential elections in the South-East.
“Ndigbo will resist every attempt by Simon Ekpa to scare away voters in the South-East and South-South through his planned four-day sit-at-home. Our suspicion was reinforced after Ekpa asked for forgiveness and we knew that his plans to boycott the elections in southeastern Nigeria were to stop ‘ObiDient’ devotees from voting for Peter Obi and lessen the strength of the South-East.
“The 2023 presidential elections must hold in the South-East, and Ndigbo must vote for whoever is their choice at the polls. Simon Ekpa must pay back all that he has amassed from the enemies of Ndigbo, stop his killer squad in southeastern Nigeria, show remorseful repentance and apologise for the inconveniences caused by his rantings and crooked falsehoods about Ndigbo.
“Except he abides by this conditions, Ndigbo will smoke him out of his hideouts at Finland and Europe, as Ndigbo and Nigerians in Finland and Europe have responded positively on the $50,000 bounty placed on him.
“It’s a matter of time, Simon Ifeanyi Njoku Ekpa will be apprehended, and his extradition to Nigeria will happen shortly so that he can answer all the crimes and killings he instigated in the South-East.”
