Tinubu Congratulate Oyetola, Says Light Prevailed Over Darkness
The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has congratulated the immediate past governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola over his victory at the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal.
A three-man tribunal chaired by Justice Tetsea Kume on Friday in Osogbo ruled that Oyetola was duly elected citing over voting as the basis for nullifying the election of Ademola Adeleke.
In a congratulatory message to Oyetola signed by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, Tinubu described the ruling as a “triumph of courage, perseverance, and light over the forces of darkness that sought to arrest the progressive good governance the APC administration delivered to the people of Osun state under the leadership of Oyetola.
“I heartily rejoice with Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola on his much deserved victory at the Election Tribunal today. It is the victory of light over darkness. A triumph of perseverance, courage and justice over electoral fraud and democratic perversion.
“The forces of darkness plotted to extinguish the able leadership and progressive good governance that improved the quality of life of our people under your leadership. But today, the Tribunal delivered justice and restored the mandate freely given to you and our great party.
“I am confident that the good work you championed that was momentarily paused will soon resume and Osun people will be happy again.
“And together we can renew their hope of a shared prosperity.”
PDP Rejects Osun Governorship Election Judgment
The National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has rejected the judgement of the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal which annulled the victory of its candidate, Adémólá Adeleke.
The PDP described the judgement as an attempt to nullify the mandate freely given to it and it’s Candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke by the people of Osun State in the July 16, 2022 Governorship election.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in a statement in Abuja, on Friday said, “The judgment of the Tribunal is contrary to the Will of the people of Osun State which was expressed by the overwhelming votes cast for our Party and Candidate at the election.
“The July 16, 2022 Governorship election in Osun State was adjudged by Local and International Observers to be free, fair, transparent and clearly won by the PDP and our Candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke in confirmation of the wishes and aspiration of the people.
“The Will of the people of Osun State as expressed by electing Governor Adeleke must be respected. As a law-abiding Party, the PDP will explore all available legal means to restore the victory of our Party.
“The PDP charges the people of Osun State to be calm, remain at alert and continue to support Governor Adeleke as we restate our confidence in the Institution of the Judiciary to dispense justice in this matter at the Appellate Court.”

Court Disqualifies Umeh As Anambra LP Senatorial Candidate
The Labour Party senatorial candidate for Anambra Central zone in the February 25 general election, Chief Victor Umeh, has been disqualified by a Federal High Court 1, sitting in Awka.
The Federal High Court 1, Awka presided over by Justice H. A. Nganjiwa, on Friday, disqualified Umeh on the grounds of non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
In a three-hour judgment, Nganjiwa disqualified Umeh on the grounds of non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act as it concerns his membership status of party primary.
The court noted that there was no evidence that the resignation letter by Umeh to the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance was actually received by the party.
The court said his name was still in the membership register of APGA as of September 30, 2022 when he contested the party’s primary. It also said Umeh’s name was not in the membership register of Labour Party as at the June 3, 2022, date of primary of the LP.
The court therefore declared as null and void the publication of Umeh’s name as a candidate earlier by the Independent National Electoral Commission, as he failed to comply with the relevant provisions of the Electoral Act and the LP constitution. The court therefore declared the publication as null and void and of no effect.
The court also issued an injunction restraining Umeh from parading himself as the senatorial candidate of LP. The injunction also prevented the LP from accepting or presenting Umeh as her candidate.
Efforts to get Umeh’s reaction proved abortive as his telephone line indicated switched off. But one of his media aides, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Umeh was in Achalla for his campaign rally and had switched off his line.
