The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has promised to make Nigeria better for the younger generation.
He also vowed to transform the education sector and ensure that Nigerian students receive a sound education and graduate as and when due.
Tinubu spoke in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, during his presidential rally and governorship campaign kickoff on Tuesday.
He solicited the votes of the residents of the state in the forthcoming elections.
The APC presidential candidate also called on the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Chief Uche Oga, to stop all court cases against the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Ikechi Emenike.
He said, “We are politicians; I am calling on Uche Oga to come home and let us settle the matter in our living room.
“There is no need to bring another party who is neutral to a family issue that we can settle ourselves.
“To you students, who are here, I appreciate your efforts today; you will not spend eight years pursuing a four-year course again.
“I pray that God will give you the encouragement to go to the polls on Election Day and vote for APC.”
Emenike said the party will win the presidential, governorship, national and state assembly elections 100 per cent.
He reiterated that Abia has suffered underdevelopment and needs to be rescued before it can be developed again.
The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, called on party members in the state to work hard to reconcile to win the election.
The APC chairman, Kingsley Ononogbu, called on the people of the South-East not to repeat the mistake of the past by playing regional politics

BBTitans: My Father Labeled Me A Mistake, He Never Believed In Me — Nana
Big Brother Titans housemate, Nana has divulged a heartbreaking story of how she became a 300-level dropout following lack of support from her family members, IGBERETV reports.
She claimed her father never believed in her saying she was a mistake. The 22-year-old said this while chatting with her fellow female housemates on Tuesday, January 17.
She said;
“I was in 300 level when I had to drop out. I cried a lot coz of this. This made me to go through a lot. I had to take care of myself.
I don’t owe my mum anything cos I was in the street way too early, bringing things home, she never asked me how or where I got it from. My father has never been proud of me. Uttering a statement like I’m a mistake.”
Nana went further to reveal that she was once pregnant without her knowledge.
She said,
“I was six months pregnant and didn’t know. I didn’t go for antenatal. The baby died and was decaying in me. My aunt took me to the hospital and lied that I had an infection.
I was relaxed, my mom said I passed out five times. I don’t know how the doctors did it that my womb is still intact. I have to do a lot of dirty and nasty things because of my parents’ negligence. I dropped out from school in 300 level because there was no one to train me.”

Transgender Woman Found Guilty Of Raping Two Women When She Was A Man
A transgender woman was on Tuesday convicted of raping two vulnerable women while living as a man.
Isla Bryson was known as Adam Graham when she carried out violent sex attacks in 2016 and 2019 after attacking the victims she originally met online.
The 31-year-old who claimed to have had gender issues since the age of four but began transitioning from a man to a woman in 2020 - had denied the accusations, Daily Mail reports. She told jurors any sex was consensual although insisted she did not like sleeping with women and they made the 'first move'.
The first victim recalled repeatedly stating 'no' as her 'muscular' attacker raped her when the then man got into bed beside her in 2016. The second woman was raped at a flat when they were planning to watch the film Mean Girls in 2019.
Bryson was today found guilty of the two rape charges following a six-day trial at the High Court in Glasgow. She denied the charges, saying in evidence she 'would never hurt another human being'.
Bryson had been on bail but was today remanded in custody by judge Lord Scott until sentencing on February 28 in Stirling. It is not yet known if she is being remanded in a male or female jail.
She first appeared in the dock in July 2019 as Adam Graham with a Mike Tyson-style face tattoo. In high court papers dated 2020, the rapist was then referred to as Annie Bryson.
This was around the time Bryson told jurors she first made the decision to 'transition' from a man to a woman.
At this trial, she was then known as Isla Bryson with jurors told Adam Graham was now her 'dead name' one 'a transgender person was given at birth and no longer uses upon transitioning'.
She had attacked the first victim at a flat in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire having met on the Badoo dating site while known as Adam.
This was immediately after Bryson's marriage to a woman had ended.
In her evidence, Bryson claimed she had effectively used the 30-year-old for somewhere to stay.
But the victim told how she had been 'head over heels in love' with Adam. However, she soon suffered as Adam went from 'caring' to flying into a rage at trivial matters.
The rape occurred on September 16, 2016 after Bryson locked the door and got into bed beside her.
In pre-recorded testimony played to jurors, the victim said: 'I thought Adam had came for a cuddle and - at that moment - everything felt weird and wrong.
'I did not know what was going on.'
The woman recalled repeatedly stating 'no' as a 'muscular' Adam forced himself upon her.
The ordeal only ended when the victim's mum turned on a light in the hall.
The second woman was raped at a flat in Drumchapel, Glasgow on June 27, 2019.
Bryson told jurors how she had shared her 'sexuality issues' with the 34-year-old having met on the social media site Bigo.
The court heard the pair were together at the flat planning to watch the film Mean Girls.
The victim recalled feeling 'crushed' as the attacker she knew as Adam forced himself on her.
She stated: 'I told him to stop and he did not. He kept going. That is when I closed my eyes and let him do what he wanted to do.'
In her own evidence, Bryson - who said she was 'scared' in the witness box - often became emotional as she refuted the charges.
She said: 'I would never do that. I would never hurt any woman.'
Bryson did admit 'cheating' on the first victim adding: 'She loved me. It kills me because I hurt her like that.'
Regarding sexual contact with the second woman, she told jurors: 'I did not make the first move. I can assure you.'
2023 Census: NPC Warns Enumerators, Staffers Against Partisanship, Laxity
The National Population Commission (NPC) on Tuesday warned enumerators and Staffers against partisanship and laxity during the 2023 Census exercise.
Prof. Habibat Isa-Jimoh, Kogi NPC Federal Commissioner, gave the warning during the inauguration of a three Day Specialized Work Force and State Facilitators Training, held at Lokoja Metropolis.
Isa-Jimoh said that the 2023 census was so crucial to the federal government such that it would tolerate any attempt by anyone to rubbish it in anyway.
Represented by State NPC Director, Mr Ojo Abiodun-Titus, the Commissioner said, “the government and international Community is waiting to have a correcpt, credible, and acceptable census for national development purpose.”
“Therefore, any attempt to rubbish this census exercise with partisanship and laxity as done in 2006, shall meet with stiff consequences and penalties.
“We expect that when you are going out to the field, make sure you don’t have any link with any political structure especially putting on T-Shirts and Caps of political parties.
“As field workers or enumerators, you should place Nigeria first and above money and do this work without any form of laxity, because a successful, credible and acceptable census will benefit you at the end as a citizen,” he admonished.
Also speaking, Prof. Makanjuole Osagbemi, National Monitoring Consultant to the commission, tasked the participants to take the training serious so as to get the knowledge that would help in getting the census right this Time around.
He implored them to put in their best to give the best to the nation, “which is we shall seriously monitor your work out there at the field more so we don’t want anything to go wrong.”
Nnamdi Ifeayi, NPC State Field Coordinator, said that all enumerators would be paid there monies in full and as when due, therefore they should not tow with the national assignment.
Ifeanyi said, “We respect all our field officers including enumerators, staffers and monitors from whom we expect nothing but the best, for a successful and acceptable census to the government and the international community.”
Inspector Justina Rita Omogbai Hailed For Tending To School Pupils In Sabo Lagos
The Nigeria Police Force has commended a female police officer, Inspector Justina Rita Omogbai, for her professionalism and positive representation, IGBERETV reports.
The officer attached to the Traffic Unit of the Sabo Divisional Headquarters in Lagos State, went viral after she was spotted tending to school pupils at Sabo junction.
A LinkedIn user who shared photos said she ensures that the pupils are properly dressed and also pays attention to the children anytime they need to cross the busy road.
A statement issued by the Force spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday, January 24, hailed the officer for her "commitment and acts of professionalism displayed in the course of her traffic duties and for positively representing the Force amongst the community, particularly to school children crossing the road at her duty post, by taking personal steps to ensure they are properly dressed and safe while heading to and from school,"
"The NPF noted that her gesture aligns with the Community Policing tenets and the concept of “Catching Them Young”, as the formative age is very vital to training children to be law-abiding and compliant with regulations; and her singular action brings to their memories the standard practice of Nigeria Police Traffic Officers.
"While commending the officer, the Inspector-General of Police charged all officers and men to emulate her good conduct and be shining examples in their respective jurisdictions.
"He equally tasked officers to be law-abiding even as they sow the seed of appropriate civic behaviour in the minds and hearts of members of their communities, particularly the young ones, who can serve as evangelists of values and good potentials of the NPF contrary to the present erroneous perception."
All Officers Due For Retirement Must Proceed – Police Service Commission
IGP suspends female SPY police officers for social media misconductThe Police Service Commission, PSC has said all police officers due for retirement must proceed, ahead of the February 25 presidential election.
The PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement on Tuesday, said the commission will not extend the tenures of the retiring senior police officers.
According to him, all existing laws, the Police Act, PSC Act and the constitution of Nigeria constrain the Commission from elongating the tenure of retiring senior police officers.
“The Commission took a decision that it will not extend the tenures of the retiring senior police officers, stressing that even when requested, it cannot do so as it is against all existing laws, Police Act, Police Service Commission Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
He assured Nigerians that there is an institutional succession plan in the Nigeria Police Force, especially with the current injection of 10,000 Constables and several other thousands of cadet Assistant Superintends of Police (ASPs) from the Police Academy every year.
Ani, following a management meeting on Monday, stated the ongoing campaign for the extension of the tenures of some Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), Commissioners (CPs), and other senior police officers is unnecessary.
He described it as an affront to all existing laws in the country guiding entry and exit in the public service.
“The Commission assured Nigerians that there will be no vacuum in the hierarchy of the Police with the touted retirement of hundreds of senior police officers.
“It took a decision to rigidly uphold the provisions of the law which stipulates that a serving public Officer, whether in the Police or in any other government agency, must exit the service at the age of 60 or having served for a period of 35 years.
“The Commission said it would not encourage the subversion of the laws guiding entry and exit in to the Nigeria Public Service, adding that the retiring senior Police Officers are not indispensable and that their exit would not in any way or manner affect the success of the 2023 general election,” he said.
