Covenant University To Build School Of Law & Medicine With N6 Billion - Oyedepo

17th Convocation: Chancellor Announces Commencement of Law, Medicine Programmes

The Chancellor, Covenant University, Dr David Oyedepo, has announced that the University is set to commence the construction of the facilities for Law and Medicine programmes.

The Chancellor made this known while responding to a passionate plea by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau at the University’s 17th Convocation Ceremony on Friday.

While delivering a goodwill message at the event on Friday, Yakubu had observed that the University was not running a law programme and made the plea.

In his response, Oyedepo said the process for the commencement of the two programmes would begin in the first quarter of the year and that six billion naira has been budgeted for the project.

The Chancellor had earlier charged the graduands to take responsibility in order not to become liabilities in the future.

Oyedepo said that everyone was absolutely responsible for their outcome in life, as responsibility was the price of greatness.

“Life begins with a vision, no one arrives at a future he or she does not prepare for. It is time to wake up and take responsibility early because commitment to one’s vision is what is called responsibility,” he said.

The chancellor implored parents to allow their children to take responsibility so that they would not end up as liabilities in life.

Bishop Predicts Tinubu Presidency, Says Nigerians Abroad Will Return

Archbishop Polycarp Sunday has predicted Bola Tinubu’s triumph at the 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he co-founded in February 2013.

In his prediction at the weekend, Sunday said special intercessions “must be upheld against unknown masked foreign mercenaries”.

He said such agents were “proliferating through the length and breadth of Nigeria’s polity” ahead of the polls.

The bishop is the Founder of The Royal Church of God Worldwide (Royal City) in Minna and Abuja.

Sunday declared Tinubu “shall emerge victorious as the winner of the presidential election”.

The cleric stated that the former Lagos governor will “divinely and expressly manifest rare grace”.

The bishop said though Tinubu is not “born again”, he is “God’s instrument for true wealth, national heritage, potentials and opportunities”.

“He will be used by God to free all in exile as many Nigerians in diaspora shall be drawn home.

“These feats shall be recorded and achieved not for a fee, nor bribe or through any corrupt means”, Sunday added.

Can Oshiomhole's Humanitarian Service Pave The Way In Edo North?

The electoral campaigns are in their final stages before the February elections, which will usher in a new generation of leaders across the federation.

Every political candidate works hard to ensure that they have a deliberate impact on the voters who will tip the election in their favour. In order to raise voter awareness, door-to-door campaigns, street mobilisation, jingles, campaign posters, billboards, and other initiatives are used.

It would be engaging and fascinating this time around because the electorates are more aware of the performance indicators of each of the contestants. The elections, aside from the success and defeat, would be a yardstick to assess the popularity of the candidates among the populace.

As a result, while some candidates are plagued by the fact that their past performance is haunting them, others are enjoying a pleasant ride because their prior performance index has been fantastic.

Former Edo State Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, who is seeking the senatorial seat of Edo North, is one such politician who has had a smooth ride in his electoral campaigns. He has proven to be a Golden Fish with no hiding place.

People have flocked to him wherever he goes to thank him for his services to not only them as constituents, but also to Edo State and humanity as a whole. They attest to his outstanding performance in office and his generosity outside of office, which they regard as motivating and deserving of all praise.

They present him with food items from their farms as a token of their gratitude, claiming that he has done so much for the Afemai people and Edo indigenes in general that he deserves to represent them in the Senate.

Oshobaba, as he is affectionately known, has proven to be the Big Masquerade who requires no introduction during the village carnival.

Other aspirants' billboards and posters can be seen all over Edo North, while Oshiomhole's own is scarcely visible, yet people continue to shout Oshobaba...Abuja direct at every opportunity.

Oshiomhole's case is special in that, due to his impeccable credentials, Edo North voters view him as the beacon of hope for a better and more prosperous district, unlike the many other candidates who are fighting to be seen or heard by the electorates.

The APC Deputy DG of the Presidential Campaign Council has promised to deliver not only himself but also his constituency for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president in the upcoming presidential elections.

Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah is the Chairman and CEO of Bush Radio Academy.

Peter Obi: Presidency Job Requires Physical, Mental Energy

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, yesterday said the presidency job requires physical and mental energy, and he has the requirements.

Speaking at a campaign held in Osogbo, Osun State, Obi said he and his deputy, Datti Baba-Ahmed, are still young and possessed the energy that a person that will rule Nigeria requires.

He lamented poor electricity in Osun, promising that the state will be the hub of good electricity if elected.

“This job requires physical and mental energy. People should retire when it is time to retire. Nigerians are hungry, the youths have no job, and it is not safe to travel anywhere in Nigeria today; all these challenges were caused by those who say they have a party structure, but these structures have crippled Nigeria. We want to destroy these structures by voting them out next month

“We are going to secure and unite Nigeria. We want a Nigerian to be proud of being a Nigerian. We will deliver a secure Nigeria. We don’t want Nigerians to be in IDP camps. We don’t want you to be a slave in your own country.

“We are going to govern this country with the fear of God. We will give you jobs. We will change Nigeria from a consuming country to producing country.

“These people keep on bragging that they have structures, yet, they are not doing anything. They are not producing anything in this state; the youths are unemployed; we will change these challenges.

“Those that have structures have stolen our money. We will fight corruption – My deputy and I. We have our own businesses that we make money from before we came into the government. We have never stolen any money from anyone to date.

“They are going to give you money on Election Day; collect the money, and vote them out. We will end the plan to turn Nigerians into beggars because we will make the country work,” Obi promised.

Why New Naira Notes Leave Ink When Rubbed On White Surfaces – MINT

The Nigerian Security Printing and Minting (NSPM) Plc also called MINT, Friday, explained why the new Naira notes leave ink when rubbed on plain white surfaces while stressing that best international best practice was followed in their production.

The company, also referred to as The MINT, is responsible for producing the naira, Nigeria’s currency.

In a statement on Friday, signed by NSPM’s Managing Director, Ahmed Halilu said its attention has been drawn to various clips, skits, concerns and comments on diverse platforms regarding the quality of the redesigned notes.

Addressing some of the popular criticisms of the new naira notes, Halilu affirmed they were of the same substrates as the existing ones and passed through the same printing processes and finishing procedures.

“It is, therefore, basically the same as the other notes in circulation,” he explained.

“It is, however, important to note that new banknotes are generally light when issued, then become heavier in circulation on getting in contact with dirt and moisture,” Halilu added.

“In addition, the second stage of currency printing (intaglio) requires a heavy deposit of special inks with fairly large particles to give a tactile feeling of the portraits as well as other raised prints by way of design.

“One of the properties of intaglio inks is non-solubility in water and ease of transfer (light stain) on plain white materials owing to the size of the particles.

“This is generally a security feature of all banknotes that easily differentiates them from forged or counterfeited notes.”

Halilu further said the best international practices have been deployed in the production of the new naira notes, adding that his agency would continue to ensure that it meets international standards.

“The naira is our legal tender and national symbol. We, therefore, urge Nigerians and other users of the naira banknotes not to subject our banknotes to experiment in order to prove a point,” he said.
