Whatsapp To Stop Working On Iphone 5, 45 Android Phones From Dec 31 (see List)

Users of Apple’s old smartphone models, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c, will not be able to use WhatsApp after December 31, 2022.

The end of WhatsApp support will also affect 45 old models of Android devices, according to the instant message platform.

The affected Android phones include several models of several Huawei, LG, and Samsung smartphones. WhatsApp said users of the phones will be sent an alert before it stops working.

Why support is ending: Explaining why it would have to end its support for the affected devices, WhatsApp said:

“Devices and software change often, so we regularly review what operating systems we support and make updates.

“To choose what to stop supporting, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest number of people still using them. These devices also might not have the latest security updates, or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp.”

Tiktok Banned On ALL US Reps-issued Mobile Devices

Lawmakers and staffers must delete TikTok from any House-issued mobile phones and are prohibited from downloading the popular app on such devices, according to an internal memo obtained by NBC News.

The memo, sent Tuesday by Catherine L. Szpindor, the chief administrative officer of the House, said the ban comes after her office’s cybersecurity unit found TikTok to be a "high risk to users due to a number of security risks."

All lawmakers and staffers were directed to delete the app from their phones.

"House staff are NOT allowed to download the TikTok app on any House mobile devices," the memo said. "If you have the TikTok app on your House mobile device, you will be contacted to remove it."

A representative for TikTok declined comment.

A measure banning TikTok on some government devices was included in the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill Congress passed last week. The provision included a ban of the app and of any application provided by TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, based in Beijing, on all executive Branch devices; it did not apply to members of Congress and their staffs.

The directive from the House does not apply to the Senate, where some members, including Marco Rubio, R-Fla., have called for the app to be completely banned in the U.S.

FBI Director Christopher Wray warned members of Congress after the midterm elections that the Chinese government could use TikTok to control users’ devices for influence or espionage purposes.

The company said last week it was working to "meaningfully address any security concerns that have been raised at both the federal and state level. These plans have been developed under the oversight of our country’s top national security agencies — plans that we are well underway in implementing — to further secure our platform in the United States, and we will continue to brief lawmakers on them."

Leeds United Vs Manchester City 28-12-22 21:00 - European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)

Riyad Mahrez says Manchester City must hit the ground running if they are to defend their Premier League crown this season.

City will return to league action, after a six-week break to allow for the World Cup in Qatar, on Wednesday when they travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United.

However, the Blues will go into the game seven-point behind table-toppers Arsenal who face West Ham on Boxing Day evening.

“We have to hit the ground running. We are not currently top of the Premier League and that is where we want to be,” Mahrez told City’s in-house media.

“We will take it game by game but our aim is to try to win another title. There are lots of strong teams in England who could still win the league so we are not just focused on Arsenal, although they have been very good so far.

“If we want to win the league, we will have to be ready as soon as the league starts again.”

Leeds will be no easy opponent for the Pep Guardiola led-side who picked up form just before the World Cup break defeating Liverpool and Bournemouth in consecutively.

Despite beating Leeds by an aggregate score of 11-0 last season, Mahrez knows leaving Elland Road with three points will not be a walk in the park.

“Leeds are a big club and it’s a hard place to go but we know what to expect from them. We will be prepared for it and hopefully we can come away with the three points.”

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. Leaves Manchester United Academy

Following the termination of his father’s contract with Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. has left the club’s academy.

After giving a fiery interview in the middle of December, Cristiano Ronaldo decided to cut relations with both his old team and the media.

The club’s academy was where his son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., was playing, but he has since left and is once again a member of Real Madrid’s young teams.

Moving from Madrid to Juventus and then Manchester has been a major theme in Cristiano Jr.’s youth career, much like his father. He’s back at Los Blancos, where his father had been training to stay in shape while he searches for a new job at the age of 37.

“I want my son to be a player,” Ronaldo stated in 2016, reiterating his hopes and aspirations for his son. “He should play football, just like I do. He reminds me a little bit of an athlete, in my opinion. He has physical attributes. He is a very young child—only five years old—but he adores football. That’s a major plus.

“I have 30 balls at home. He is always with the ball and he loves it. But I will not force him to be a player because it comes naturally. It has to be his choice. He will be whatever he wants to be, I am not going to push him at all. But obviously, I want Cristiano to be a player. A top one, like his dad.”

Cristiano Jr. had also previously called on his dad to continue to play football so that they could grace the pitch together. The Portuguese football icon said in 2019: “Cristianinho puts pressure on me sometimes and says: ‘Dad, keep playing for a few more years so we can play together.’ It’s going to be difficult, even if I still have a few years to give…”

In the summer, Ronaldo tried to leave Manchester but there weren’t many interested parties, making it difficult for him to do so. Chelsea and Bayern Munich were among the teams mentioned, but neither decided to pursue his signature. Sx months later, it seems there aren’t many possibilities.

In light of this, a relocation to the Middle East may now be in the works. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner may end his career away from Europe thanks to tempting offers from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

A seven-year contract that has been offered appears to put him at the top of the sport’s rich list and earn him nearly £1 billion. Ronaldo is expected to play at the club for two and a half seasons, before retiring to take up an ambassadorial role.

Lady Arrested For Beating Her 9-Year-Old House Help To Death In Enugu

A 37-year-old upcoming artist, James Achikpi Korshima, is seeking justice after his nine-year-old daughter, Precious, was allegedly beaten to death by her boss, Mrs Ujunwa Ugwoke, in Enugu State.

Ugwoke was said to have beaten the girl, who was her live-in house help, to death and dumped her corpse in a bush where the body was consequently set ablaze on the order of the community’s traditional ruler (name withheld).

Speaking with a human rights organisation based in Enugu, Korshima said: “My daughter started living with Ujunwa in Fidelity Estate, Enugu since March 2022. On November 10, 2022 I received a strange phone call from an unknown caller using Ujunwa’s phone number. The caller claimed that they kidnapped Ugwuoke, her baby and my daughter and demanded ransom of N20million.

I got in touch with Mrs. Ujunwa’s family and the husband who lives abroad. To my greatest surprise they all feigned ignorance of the alleged kidnap.

Mrs. Ugwoke and her own daughter in bizarre turn of events, were allegedly released from the kidnapper’s den and Precious was alleged to have been murdered, according to Mrs. Ujunwa.

I immediately reported the matter to the New Haven Police Station, Enugu, and the matter was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad unit of the Enugu Police command.

It was after some days at the anti-kidnapping base that Ugwuoke admitted that she beat Precious to desth and dumped the corpse off Port-Harcourt Expressway immediately after the military checkpoint after the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu.”

Korshima said the Police informed him that when they went to the scene, they learnt that the traditional ruler of the community had given order to the youth to burn the decomposing body because of the offensive smell coming from it.

He also said that the traditional ruler engaged in an illegal act without informing security agents of the presence of the corpse in his domain.

Soludo Commends All Security Agencies For Roadblocks And FOBs In The State

Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR deeply appreciates all the commitments, professionalism and dedication of all the security agencies particularly, the architecture that have been put in place to secure the homeland; the road blocks, the FOBs (forward operating bases) everywhere.

He stressed that ndi Anambra needs more of them in the coming days, weeks and months because they are very critical in restoring the peace and order that have been enjoyed in the state so far.

The Governor made the remark in an expansive keynote address delivered in his country home at Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Addressing the media, Governor Soludo said that that this is his nine months in office as Governor of Anambra State and wants to use the opportunity to felicitate with all the Anambra people, the millions at home and the more millions in diaspora celebrating Christmas and New Year.

"Our nine months in office has been a journey to serve ndi Anambra and transform the state into a liveable and prosperous homeland that we promised our people.

"The first key agenda of our five major pockets happens to relate to security, law and order and this is the aspect that I want to specifically talk about, to say to our people, where we were at the time I was sworn into office on the 17th of March 2022 and where we are today, which shows the difference between day and night.

"On the 17th of March 2022, eight local governments were basically under seige, taken over by criminals and hoodlums in various camps set up in these local governments.

"But by the grace of God, those 8 local governments have been totally liberated. Law and order seems to be returning back to Anambra. All the camps have been decimated and some of the deadly criminals have been taken out for good," Soludo stated.

"Few days ago, we had over eighty of these Touts (Agberos) harassing people around Upper Iweka and environs taken into custody and to be prosecuted and probably jailed.

"We are trying to keep our streets safe from Touts and criminals. We will never have a crime free society but as far as I am concerned, I don't know any state in Nigeria that is safer than Anambra.

"I want to commend all the citizens of Anambra and the stakeholders who hearkened to our call that 'If you see something, say something, if you say something, do something'. And to our youths who have taken the destiny of this state into their hands. To our women and men who had contributed in assisting government to get hold of criminals in the state.

"Two weeks ago, one criminal in far away Finland declared five days sit at home but ndi Anambra defied the order! Not a single day was observed.

"Thousands of our people returned back home for Christmas and that is why the streets are all busy.

"I want to commend our special task forces that we set up to ensure free flow of traffic. In recent decades, this is the first time we have the most free flow of traffic in the state," Soludo noted.

"I saw a video of the traffic at Head Bridge and people where marshalling the place 24 hours a day and the other locations at Nnobi, Ekwulobia, Nkpor, Awka, Abagana, 33 Onitsha, etc to ensure that our people move freely.

"I want to commend the security agencies, the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency, the OCHA Brigade, the Vigilante Services, the Anambra youths who have volunteered to serve our people, to keep our streets safe, restore law and order.

"I want to use this occasion to specially appreciate the law enforcement agencies; the Nigerian Police, the Navy, the DSS, the Civil Defense and of course, our very gallant Anambra Vigilante Services and all the volunteers.

"To all the ndi Anambra who have risen up to the occasion, helping to organize the local vigilantes, providing logistics, donated to the security trust fund and those helping in their own little ways to make sure we have a safer homeland.

"There is still work to be done, there are still challenges and all hands must continue to be on deck," Soludo pointed out.

"I want to commend all the armed forces who put their lives on the line to have our people sleep with their two eyes closed.

"All those who have paid the supreme sacrifice just to keep Anambra safe, several of them died needlessly I must say. May their souls rest in peace.

"These criminals wants the security officers out of the road but fortunately, we thank God that they have remained resolute.

"We will continue to provide all the support that we can to all the security forces as government and as a people of Anambra.

"What they are doing, the sacrifices that they make their commitments and FOBs, we will continue to strengthen them and make them even stronger to keep our people safe and secured.

"In normal circumstances, these road blocks wouldn't have been needed but this is what we brought up on ourselves.

"Our people taking up arms in the bushes, involved in criminality so to speak. Since they have decided to operate in an abnormal way, we now need abnormal solution.

"We are not always the most confident but the most effective in this circumstance and until the insecurity situation comes down to near zero, we will continue to have the road blocks and FOBs in place.

"I want to thank every ndi Anambra who have been involved. Everyone has a role to play in the road ahead.

"The youths must rise and take their destinies into their hands because their future is on the line, the future of their children and grandchildren. It is your future we are keeping awake everyday to secure.

"I want to use this medium again to appeal to those in the bush and forest, the criminals out there, the kidnappers to come out. We are offering them the opportunity to retrain them and help them start a new productive life.

"The course you have taken by being in the bush is one that leads to nowhere. It is not going to take you to anywhere. Criminality cannot pay you in the long term," Soludo concluded.
