Lagos to get 24-hour power supply as Ambode signs 7 bills into law

- Among seven bills signed into law by Akinwunmi Ambode is one to ensure steady power supply to residents of Lagos - Adeniji Kazeem says the law are parts of the vision of Governor Ambode to make Lagos a better place - The state government also believes that the laws would help to boost economic activities Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos has signed seven bills into law among which is the one to guarantee 24-hour power supply in line with the vision of his administration to boost the economy and make the state globally competitive. The bills include the "Lagos state electric power reform law, amended land use charge law, school of nursing law, cooperative college law, cancer research institute law, amended customary court law and the Yoruba language preservation and promotion law," a statement by the Habib Aruna, the governor's media aide, said. The attorney-general and justice commissioner, Adeniji Kazeem, who spoke on the importance of the laws, said the development was a great day for the state as it signpost the commencement of the journey to further advance the dividends of democracy to the people. “This is a great day; the governor has just signed these bills into law and this shows that the House of Assembly is working in tandem with the executive. ' "It also shows that Lagos is working. These laws are going to benefit the people of Lagos State and this is what the people are looking for in terms of the dividends of democracy," Kazeem said. Olawale Oluwo, the energy and mineral resources minister, said the power sector reform law would allow the state government to intervene in major areas of the power value chain to the overall benefit of the people. “One, the law puts the government in a position to be able to extend our guarantee to private sector participants who will come and generate power for us and by this guarantee, we are putting the balance sheet of our State on the table and assuring investors that as they generate power, they will get paid. “Second, is to help the distribution companies to upgrade their infrastructure because if they generate the power and their infrastructure is still where it is today, clearly they will not have the capacity to carry the incremental power. "The third area of intervention is that it empowers us to be able to open up the gas market in Lagos so that we can have gas on a consistent basis and that is how we can attain the 24-hour power supply," he said. Oluwo said the law would also enable the state government to collaborate with the distribution companies to collect tariff from customers efficiently in a way that the said guarantee would not crystallize, while in the area of enforcement, the law will prevent power theft. “What has happened today is that the first power theft law in Nigeria has been signed today by Governor Ambode and this is the first time any government in Nigeria will institutionalise the power theft law. “It criminalizes power infraction. What we have seen before is that people tamper with and bypass meters and at the end of the day they are arrested and nothing happens but the new law provides for jail terms as well as fines and all sorts of forbearance such that if you tamper with electrical installations, if you import fake electrical materials into this state, you are liable to be prosecuted,” Oluwo explained.

Armed herdsmen reportedly kill SARS commander in Oyo state

- The commander of a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Oyo state is dead - Sheu Magu was reportedly killed by armed herdsmen in Ogbooro community in Oyo state - Residents in the area say the herdsmen have been terrorising them for a long time The commander of a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), in Oyo state, Sheu Magu, has been killed by herdsmen, Vanguard reports. According to the report, the SARS commander was killed when he and his men tried disarming the herdsmen, who residents in the area say have been terrorising them. The team of policemen were said to have acted on a tip-off and moved to disarm the herdsmen, but they were resisted with gunshots which killed the commander. PAY ATTENTION: Read the news on Nigeria’s #1 news app A source told Vanguard: “The killing of Supol Sheu has made the issue a story. Before now, attacking women, especially in the evening and night, robbing and rapi*g them is not news around here. “The Bororo herdsmen have always been notorious for that. They use their AK-47 to guard their cattle during the day and use it to commit nefarious activities at night. “The Superintendent of Police was a very nice, gentle and well-behaved officer. He used to relate with civilians in a very civil manner. His death is very sad. With this, I believe the security operatives will take the issue of herdsmen’s attacks and robbery more seriously.” Another source said it actually started on Tuesday, February 6, when policemen visited a village to investigate a criminal charge against one of the herdsmen, but later turned violent. He said: “Saki is boiling now. OPC, police and other brave people in Saki are in the bush as we speak, hunting for the herdsmen. The whole thing started when police arrested one of the herdsmen for robbery in Saki. “On getting to the village, the informant that led the team was reportedly attacked first and killed. One of those that escaped told us the herdsmen used their cows to surround them before attacking.” Reacting to the incident, Oyo state public relations officer, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said: “It is true that an officer of ours was murdered. We have arrested four suspects and we are already investigating them." Meanwhile, a conglomerate of Igbo associations around the globe known as Global Igbo Alliance (GIA), has rejected the planned imposition of cattle colony on states by the Federal Government of Nigeria, warning the South-east governors against accepting such initiatives in Igbo land. In an open letter to governors of the region, signed by its president and secretary, the group lamented that herdsmen, who are currently number four in the world terrorist index are being treated with kid gloves, even as they continued to kill Nigerians in their hundreds.

Premier League!! Bournemouth vs Chelsea Live From Dean Court on Saturday, @5:30pm (Predict Here)

Chelsea continue their Premier League title defence away at Bournemouth on Saturday. The champions came from behind to beat Watford 4-2 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but Antonio Conte’s defence has been leaking goals of late as they struggle to match the form of last season. The Blues already trail League leaders Manchester City by nine points heading into the weekend clash against Eddie Howe’s Cherries, and can ill-afford to add to their three defeats if they are to mount a realistic title defence. Team News Danny Drinkwater played an hour against Everton in the EFL Cup, and could feature off the bench against Bournemouth. N’Golo Kante is expected to be in contention for next week’s Champions League tie at Roma, but is unlikely to be available this weekend.

One of the trending topics generating arguments is a guy having sex with a lady at the very first day they met. To some, the babe na Olosho joor This might not be true. Some ladies who play hard to get are worse. Sex on a first date by a school of thought makes the girl look cheap or flexible sexually. Another school of thought beliefs sex on a first date doesn’t necessarily mean she is cheap or sexually flexible. On the norm, we have seen some lovers that had sex on their first date ended up as husband and wife. We’ve also seen an instance the ladies who proved hard to get in the first place can’t even maintain a relationship for a year not to talk of leading to Marriage. Apparently, sex on a first date can be caused by series of events, actions, maturity, motive of the date itself between the parties involved. One of such reasons is the MUTUAL FEELING. Psychologically, if both parties are in love or are connected together abstractly by feelings, it is highly possible for them to have sex on their first date. Another reason is a medical term called NYMPHO; medically, it has been proven that a number or percentages of ladies are nymphomaniac i.e. they tend to enjoy sex at anywhere, anytime and with anyone. They are turned on with the slightest move. So personally to them sex on a first date is fun and no string attached. Although, there are many dignity attached to a girl’s personality who doesn’t surrender to the threat of sexual feelings easily but in other way, it does not always define how decent our ladies are. Okay, dear guys, Do you think having sex with a lady means she’s cheap? And our ladies, how do you feel when a guy requests for sex on first date and how do you feel or react before and after the sex? Drop your matured comments below!!!
