Nnamdi Kanu Needs Urgent Surgery For Impaired Ear Drum – Barr. Ejiofor

  Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said that IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu needs urgent advanced medical treatment and surgical operation to address his deteriorating health condition, especially on his left ear, IGBERETV reports. Ejiofor gave the update after he visited Kanu on Monday at the headquarters of the Department of State Services(DSS) where he is still being held in solitary confinement. Taking to his Facebook page, Ejiofor expressed concerns over the lack of adequate medical facilities at DSS headquarters to treat Kanu’s ailments, particularly the severe pains in his left ear drum that has become greatly impaired following severe torture and beating he received in Kenya before being renditioned back to Nigeria in June, 2021. Landlord Puts Up Tenant’s Underwear For Auction For Owing Him Rent

  A Kenyan landlord has put up his tenant's underwear for auction to recover the rent the tenant owes him, IGBERETV reports. According to the auction notice seen on the local dailies on Monday, January 30, 2023, Nyaluoyo Auctioneers said they were instructed by the landlord of Zachariah Sichenje Masika, to auction 4 men’s underwear and 4 female underwear belonging to the tenant, to recover the rent he's being owed. The public auction is expected to take place at the firm's yard in Kisumu. Terms of sale are cash at the fall of the hammer. The notice has since gone viral among social media users who have considered the advert funny.

    RUSSIA is massing at least 200,000 soldiers for a massive new assault on Ukraine, Nato's top official has warned. Nato secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg grimly said  there is "no sign" that Vladimir Putin is "preparing for peace ". He warned that Russia is preparing for "more war" ahead of the conflict's first anniversary at the end of the February. It comes amid intelligence reports that President Vladimir Putin is may be  readying for a massive new offensive. And it has been reported Vlad could launch a new blitzkrieg-style onslaught in attempt to win the war by taking Kyiv. Banks Will Accept Old Naira Notes After Deadline - Emefiele

  Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), says banks will continue to accept old naira notes after the stipulated deadline. Emefiele spoke on Tuesday when he appeared at an interactive session with the house of representatives ad hoc committee on the currency redesign and naira swap policy. He said the CBN will also accept the old naira from banks after the February 10 deadline . Emefiele made reference to the CBN act mandates the apex bank to continue to accept old notes after it’s expiration. Section 20 (3) of the CBN act states: “Notwithstanding sub-sections (1) and (2) of this section, the bank shall have power, if directed to do so by the president and after giving reasonable notice in that behalf, to call in any of its notes or coins on payment of the face value thereof and any note or coin with respect to which a notice has been given under this sub-section, shall, on the expiration of the notice, cease to be legal tender, but, subject to section 22 o...

  Emefiele Has Weaponised The CBN And Is An Enemy Of Democracy - FFK Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, over the new monetary policy, IGBERETV reports. The CBN in December 2022, introduced the newly redesigned N200, N500, and N1000 notes and has said they will cease to be legal tenders by February 10. Taking to his Instagram page, FFK stated that Emefiele has ''weaponised the CBN and is an enemy of democracy.'' He called for the cancellation of the new Naira notes policy until after the elections. Blue Water Coming Out Of South African Taps

A Johannesburg resident was shocked when she opened her tap only to find blue water coming out of the tap. The incident happened on Monday while most areas were under water restrictions. Speaking to IOL, Ntombi said the blue water eventually stopped coming out. “Joburg Water has reached out and they will come assess the situation,” she said. Joburg Water spokesperson Puleng Mopeli said they managed to obtain the address of the complainant and sent a request to their lab to take samples. “It is suspected to be copper from the building. However, we will confirm once the results are issued from the lab which will be 24 hours after the samples have been tested,” said Mopeli. Earlier, Johannesburg Water warned residents that parts of the city may experience low water pressure from their taps, with the possibility of no having water in some areas due to low levels in reservoirs. This was as it undertook a self-audit of its preparations for the polls and declared that it was good to go. INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made the declaration when he received in audience the President and Chief Executive Officer CEO of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems IFES, Mr. Anthony N. Banbury. So far, the Commission has successfully implemented 12 out of 14 activities in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities Section 44 of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) provides that the Notice of Polls must be published not later than 14 days before the election cause to be published, a notice specifying the date and hours fixed for the poll; the persons entitled to vote; and the location of the polling units. “This meeting is holding today when we are implementing the 12th activity – the Publication of the Notice of Polls – meaning that we have so far successfully implemented 12 out of 14 activities on schedule. “So, there are only two activities outstanding. The first one is the end of campaign by political parties, which by law is 24 hours before polling day, which is going to be on the 23rd of February for the Presidential and National Assembly elections and the 10th of March for the States governorship and States Assembly, and then, the election day proper, which is on the 25th of February for the Presidential and National Assembly and on the 11th of March for the state elections”, he stated. While he said the logistics arrangement for the polls has been reassuring, the INEC chairman added that the technological innovations for the elections have been tested and that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, would again be tested this Saturday in a nationwide mock accreditation exercise. He said; “The preparation has gone on very well. And then with the benefit of the new Electoral Act, we have more time to prepare than our predecessors had in the past. We are working with the National Union of Road Transport Workers to make sure that we get logistics right so that we deploy personnel and materials to locations early enough so that we can open the polling units, conclude the processes at the polling units and quickly declare the outcome of the elections, as decided by Nigerians swiftly. The earlier we conclude the processes, the speed with which we also declare winners and conclude the processes”. Earlier, Mr Banbury said his team was at the commission to pay respects to INEC’s management for the work they have been doing in deepening democracy and to also listen to the commission on the level of its preparations for the polls.
